A Sculptural Dress for Renaissance
Beyoncé × Balmain

Commissioned by Maison Balmain

At the request of Maison Balmain, its Creative Director Olivier Rousteing, and Eddy Anemian, Head of Haute Couture Collections, Laurentine Périlhou’s atelier was entrusted with the creation of one of the dresses for the Balmain × Beyonce special collection.

Unveiled in March 2023, the collection comprises sixteen couture pieces, each inspired by a song from Renaissance, Beyoncé’s seventh solo album, released in July 2022.

Created over the course of two weeks and representing 450 hours of hand-knotting, the dress is composed of a complex interplay of materials, including vinyl, viscose, silk, and polyester. The result is a sculptural garment where textile technique becomes movement, rhythm, and presence—echoing the energy and power of the music that inspired it.
