Craft

With a versatile background that empowers her to navigate many skills seamlessly, Touré unveils intricate proposals from her boundless creativity or crafted with precision to meet specific commission requirements. "I like to immerse myself in the world of a heritage-rich house, interpreting its symbols and merging my artistic universe with the brand. This process often leads me to unexpected discoveries, enriching my artistic practice."

Her chosen medium, paper, serves as a canvas for Touré's creativity, offering precision that surpasses other materials.

Within her studio, Lucie Toure has cultivated what she fondly describes as her "own world," infusing elements of "preciousness" into everyday materials. Her process involves meticulously exploring colors- with elements hand-painted to achieve bespoke hues, shapes, and sizes while skillfully merging textile savoir-faire. Including diverse techniques like gilding and mounting techniques borrowed from jewelry craftsmanship, Toure's techniques converge to create a unique expression, extending her creations to the luxury sector, encompassing interior decoration, set design, window displays, packaging, and fashion.

Material

"I discovered the technique of origami when I was a child. I used to create objects with beads and paper in my room," this fascination with paper consistently appears in her works and artistic explorations. Touré transcends this material by imbuing it with new properties, especially flexibility, achieved by combining it with materials like textiles.

"Paper can be seen as an ordinary material, without any particular value, but in some cases, it becomes rare and precious when associated with artisanal techniques," her approach aims to divert materials from their primary function, revealing unexpected possibilities. In addition to her preferred medium, paper, Touré expands her exploration to materials such as wood, copper, leather, and embroiderers on surfaces diverse as textiles, straw marquetry, plexiglass, plaster, paper, glass, and lace. This unexpected diversity of materials creates unique textiles and surfaces, reimagining materials not naturally associated with this artistic universe.
